Club Committees
Horticulture
The Horticulture Committee encourages the love and knowledge of gardening, including propagation, garden management, birds and wildlife protection, pollinators and native plants, and community gardens. A goal of this committee is to amplify the importance of biodiversity and how it affects climate change. This supports the broader national GCA goals by encouraging members to learn and become more aware of the importance of stewardship of the environment when gardening.

Conservation & NAL
The purpose of the committee is to educate the SCA membership on best practices to restore and protect natural resources and encourages environmental stewardship within the greater Syracuse community, in alignment with the purpose, mission, vision, and values of the organization. (paraphrased from the GCA statement of committees)
Further, the committee encourages the membership to become advocates for the conservation of the environment and active in legislation. It brings to the membership current National Advocacy and Legislation that is underway - or being advocated for - that promotes conservation in the natural environment.
Garden History & Design
This committee is to teach club members to develop an appreciation of America’s gardens. The committee works closely with the Smithsonian Institution Archives of American Gardens to document part of the American experience throughout the country. As the Smithsonian believes, “Gardens represent a part of the American experience and often represent and highlight the region and aesthetics that influence them. Gardens often reflect the social change, traditions and trends over time.”
Floral Design
Our floral design committee is dedicated to enhancing the beauty of the community through floral arrangements and displays. This committee focuses on selecting, cultivating, and showcasing a variety of flowers that reflect the season and inspire members. Additionally, they may organize workshops and events to educate members about floral design and gardening techniques. Overall, the floral committee plays a vital role in promoting appreciation for nature and fostering among club members.
Photography
The Photography committee is dedicated to documenting our activities and preserving the visual history of the club. Photography is used to capture meetings and projects that the Syracuse Garden club takes part in. We believe photographs tell a story of what we are doing in the club. We also use photography to promote greater understanding of horticulture and the environment.
