The Syracuse Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club of America (www.gcamerica.org), a non-profit association of 200 member clubs with over 18,000 members in 40 states in the US with courtesy member clubs in Canada, Bermuda, New Zealand, Jamaica, Europe and South America.

​

The purpose of the Garden Club of America is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.

​

The purpose of the Syracuse Garden Club is to promote the interest in gardens and gardening in Central New York. We also study and participate in the art of flower arranging. We actively seek further knowledge, aggressively protect the natural environment and passionately encourage civic improvements.

The National Affairs and Legislation Committee and the Conservation Committee of the Garden Club of America have adopted the following pledge, which the Board of Directors of Syracuse Garden Club endorses on behalf of its membership:

"To preserve America's beauty and natural heritage for future generations, we pledge to promote conservation stewardship through environmental education and advocate scientifically based environmental legislation; work to protect endangered species, especially flora, to promote biodiversity and to conserve natural resources; encourage the responsible use of our public lands for the benefit of all citizens; work to reduce industrial, municipal and household waste and advocate the prevention of pollution of soil, air and water."
